Rulings for the residents of non-Islamic countries Foods and drinks Occupation As for people who work in different jobs that have something to do with restaurants, shopping centers and the like, and one of those duties is to deliver or serve wine. There is no objection to their salary as long as they have no other choice but to work in such places. But if they can, they should choose another job as soon as possible. Cooking food for non-Muslims with pork or meats that are not islamically slaughtered is not prohibited. But they must not be cooked for Muslims. Eating and being present at a table on which wine is being served is haram, even though the food is halal. Unless in cases of urgency, such as when one works in a company where attending the meetings is compulsory and being absent would cause problems such as losing one's job.
